Dorothy E. Fawcett, age 99 of Canton, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning February 22, 2006 in the House of Loreto. She was born in Canton on January 7, 1907 to the late Elmer and Bertha (Diebold) Eckis. A graduate of McKinley High School, Dorothy attended Radcliff College and graduated with a degree in Education from the College of Wooster. She taught at McKinley High School. She was President of the Visiting Nurse Society of Canton, and enjoyed memberships in the Canton Junior League, the Canton Art Institute and Arts Unlimited. Preceeded in death by her husband Randolph Richard Fawcett Sr. on July 11, 1985; and son R. Richard Fawcett Jr. on November 22, 2003. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol Fawcett Brown and Warren Brown of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Ellen Murphy of Tucson, Linda Schneider of Conover, OH, Joseph Marstrell of Canton, Jennifer Marotta of Lockport, N.Y., Lisa Fawcett of New York City, Julie Fawcett of Westbrook, ME. Great grandchildren include Tessa Murphy Valencia , Michael Marstrell, Jesse Marstrell, Sam Marstrell, Jennifer Marotta Lamb, Sam Marotta and Zoe Amelia Bonerbo. One great-great grandchild, Esperanza Valencia. Funeral services will be held Saturday 1:00pm in the Arnold Funeral Home with the Rev.,Dr Carey Slone officiating. Final resting place is West Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services, Saturday 12-1:00pm in the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions may, in lieu of flowers be made to House of Loreto of Canton, Ohio where Dorothy received such loving care.
