Doris Aleene Smith, age 92, of North Canton, passed away on Monday morning June 16, 2014. She was born on April 5, 1922 in Hermitage, Tennessee to the late Della (Kramer) and Clarence Lee Hoskins. Her family moved to Canton where she graduated from Lehman High School. After graduating from Kent State University, she taught for the Canton City Schools including Belden, Horace Mann and Roosevelt Elementary. She met Glen E. Smith before he served in the Army and they married on February 17, 1946. Together they raised four boys and were members of the Calvary United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Kumjoinus Class and she taught Sunday School along with being the director for Vacation Bible School. Preceded in death by her husband Glen E. Smith in 1995; she is survived by her sons Glen Howard Smith of Bentonville, Arkansas, Gary D. Smith of Reminderville, OH, Greg William (Linda) Smith of North Canton, Grant Steven Smith of Waterford, Michigan; grandchildren Gary Wayne and Bradley (Sara) Smith and Ashley Milner, Brian Smith and Breanna (Dan) Caslow; two great-grandchildren Bentley and Madison; brother Vernon (Mary) Hoskins of Philadelphia, PA; other relatives and friends.
