Dorie McDowell Yonally, age 98, of North Canton and formerly Hudson, Ohio and Charleston, West Virginia passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024. She was visited and surrounded by her loving family during the hours prior.

Born in Morgantown, Kentucky, Dorie spent most of her early years in Charleston before working at Union Carbide to put herself through the bachelor of arts program in education at Ohio University. Teaching school in Cleveland after graduation she met Jim Yonally, a young dental student, whom she married and cherished for 71 years until Jim's passing two years ago. They had four children, all lovingly raised and cared for.

Always encouraging and supportive, Dorie was a loving and devoted wife and mother as well as a woman of deep faith in Jesus Christ. She loved spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to point them to the Lord. Together, she and Jim supported many worthy causes and poured into the lives of countless others wherever they went. She was also a long time proud member of PEO, and fondly remembered her sorority years in Chi Omega at OU in Athens, Ohio. Dorie led a happy and blessed life and traveled the world with Jim, visiting South America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and other destinations. She also welcomed and blessed multiple international students from around the world into her home and heart over the years. They were longtime members of the Chapel in North Canton, and the true passion of her life was letting others know the Bible's message: that there is a free gift of forgiveness and eternal life for any who repent and call upon the name of Jesus. Dorie is survived by her four children, Jill Archer, Jane Eck, Joy Pyles, and Matt Yonally, as well as 16 beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Jan Piper, in Greensboro, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the North Canton Chapel and Young Life of Stark County are greatly appreciated.
