Doreen Smith Poole, age 92, of Canton, died Friday morning in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Canton, August 5, 1916, to the late Jack and Ruby (Fraser) Smith, she was a life resident. Doreen was a 1934 graduate of McKinely High School, graduated from Kent State University and received her law degree from McKinley Law School. She was a self-employed attorney and had been a school- teacher. Doreen was a member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, Canton Arboretum Garden Club, Canton Symphony League, and KSU Alumni. She was also a member and past president of the following: Canton Woman's Club, Needle Work Guild, College Club of Canton, PEO Sisterhood and Canton Sorosis. Doreen was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Sidney Poole in 1998. Survivors include cousins, Miriam Hinterleiter of Canton and Mrs. Don (Wilma) Henderson of Zanesville, OH; friend, Sandra Spurgeon also of Canton. Funeral service will be Monday 11 a.m. in Westbrook Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan R. Reese officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, it was Doreen's wish that contributions be made in her memory to Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, 2521 12th St., N.W., Canton, OH 44708.
