IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald L
Troyer
January 5, 1952 – December 14, 2023
Donald Laverne (Donnie-Mose) Troyer
"Don," as he preferred to be called, was a very independent, extremely intelligent man. He enjoyed golf and softball and excelled in both. He enjoyed traveling by himself with a paper map driving the "back roads" across the eastern United States and Texas to see his brother, nephew, and their respective wives. He read lavishly taking notes on his interpretations and conversation came easy to him with this in-depth knowledge. Don did not leave his listener with any confusion - they knew his opinion which made for some very energetic conversations.
Don graduated from Lake High School in 1970 and worked at Hoover Company as a fork lift operator and retired after 37 years and enjoyed his friendships there.
In the latter days of his life, Don chose to look to his Savior, Jesus Christ for redemption. He quoted Pastor Ron Embleton saying, "Knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus are two different things." Meeting his Messiah visibly changed Don's demeanor.
His gratitude for those who cared for him and his family was genuine and he expressed how much he appreciated and loved his family. A special thank you to Catherine and Wendell Coblentz whom honored his request for being his caretakers during this time. He expressed deep gratitude for his caregivers at Mercy Medical Cleveland Clinic and Altercare Hartville.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Moses and Amy (Eash) Troyer, his sister Esther Coblentz and is survived by Leon Coblentz (brother-in-law), Clarence (Sarah) Troyer, Mervin (Nina) Troyer, and Ruth (Nate) Zehr.
Private burial is 10:00am and the celebration of life service is Monday, December 18 at 11:00am at Cornerstone Community Chapel. Friends may call there Sunday from 3p - 6p.
In lieu of flowers, Don would ask that donations be sent to your charity of choice or to Cornerstone Community Chapel.
