Donald C. Shoemaker, age 84, of Marlboro Township, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning December 4, 2008. He was born in Nimishillen Township, Ohio on March 2, 1924 to the late Ralph and Elsie (Culler) Shoemaker and was a WW II Army Veteran. He was a member of the Werner United Methodist Church. He served as a Marlboro Township Trustee, and was a former board member of the Marlboro Fire Dept. and Marlboro Twp. Zoning. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty J.; children Karen (David) Thomas of Wheaton, IL, Kay (Ed) Peterson of Hudson, Kristine (Kenneth) Schaeffer of Beloit, Kenneth (Ruth) Shoemaker, Keith (Dawn) Shoemaker, Kathryn (Brian) Gerber all of Marlboro Township; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brother Bennett (Joan) Shoemaker and sister Berdine (Ernie) Walker all of North Canton; and many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by 2 grandchildren. Calling hours are Friday (TODAY) 4-7 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Hartville and 1 hour prior to services Saturday 10-11 AM. Funeral services are Saturday 11 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Jeri Johnson officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery.
