Dr. Donald Louis Ream died November 17, 2016 at the age of 94. He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law Stanley Louis and Sharon Ream of Columbus, OH, David Allen Ream of Mt. Shasta, CA; daughter and son-in-law Carolyn Anne and Stanley Edgell of Powell, OH; four grandchildren Jennifer Anne Gilroy (Colin) of West Orange, NJ, Hallie Elizabeth Boyce of Charleston, SC, Daniel Lincoln Cramer of Hilton Head, SC, and Maxwell Louis Ream of Columbus, OH; step-grandchildren Sean Edgell (Kelly) of Columbus, OH and Carrie Edgell of North Palm Beach, Florida; great grandchildren Lily Boyce, Lucy Gilroy, Gavin Edgell and Landon Edgell.

Dr. Ream was born and raised in Canton, Ohio where he graduated from Lehman High School, then received his BA and MD degrees from The Ohio State University. After Internship in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Ream began his practice of medicine in Hartville, OH. As the longest practicing physician in Hartville (40 years), he delivered babies in Amish and Mennonite homes in the late 1940's by kerosene lamp. Also during these times, routine office visits were $2 and house calls were $5. Dr. Ream was a member of the Family Practice Department of Aultman Hospital for 40 years and served at Department Chairman for a period of time. He belonged to many organizations namely, The Best Damn Band in The Land, The AMA, The O.S.U. Medical Society, The American Academy of Family Practice, The Stark County Medical Society, Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice Physicians and a member of the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity.

Dr. Ream is preceded in death by his father Louis H. Ream and his mother Dora Ellen (Swartz) Ream and his wife of 58 years Beverly Jeanne (York) Ream.

Calling hours are from 12-2 PM on Monday November 21, 2016 at the Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Final resting place is North Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 3909 Blackburn Rd., Canton, OH 44718.
