Donald Benton "Don" Prather, age 91, of Marlboro Township, passed away Friday afternoon, September 5, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on August 9th, 1934, in Canton, to Clarence Benton and Anna Grace (Ellenberger) Prather. Don co-founded Custom Poly Bag, Inc in October 1969 with Lloyd Carlile. Don was a 1952 Marlboro High School graduate and was proud to receive the Outstanding Alumni Award in 2000. Don loved his community and at a young age was a Boy Scout leader and was one of the original firefighters for the volunteer Marlboro Fire Department. He was a member of Conrad Lodge #217, F.& A.M. and Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. Don loved golfing with family and friends and spending time on the Prather tree farm on Swamp Road. He and his wife also competed in ballroom dancing in the region and in Canada.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years Janet (Hamlin) Prather; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Lynda Prather of Marlboro; grandchildren Kristen (Stephen Ehlers) Prather of Alexandria, Virginia and Michael (Rita) Prather of Sacramento, California.

Private family funeral services will be held followed by burial at Alliance City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Don's name to the Stark County Humane Society, the World Wildlife Fund or the charity of your choice.
