Donald E. Jackson, age 81, of Suffield, passed away Sunday June 14, 2009 after a brief illness. He was born in Alliance on August 3, 1927 to the late Ralph and Edith (Kelly) Jackson, and was a 1945 Alliance High School Graduate. After serving in the Army during WW II, he graduated from Tri-State College in Angola, IN with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for Goodyear Aerospace and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and retired in 1984 after 34 years of service. At Goodyear Aerospace, Donald met Kay Miller. They dated, married in 1957, and celebrated 51 years of a happy marriage. Together, Donald and Kay enjoyed camping especially at Salt Fork in Cambridge, OH and traveling especially to the Peaks of Otter in VA. He also enjoyed making hay, gardening, and being a daddy to his four footed friends, Dachshunds, Maxie, Murphy, Molly and Mindy Sue. Preceded in death by brother Duane Jackson and sister Devona Gamble; he is survived by his devoted wife Kay; brother Keith Jackson of Minerva; other relatives and friends including nephew Larry (Donna) Jackson of Carrollton, niece Debbie (John) Bowman of Minerva, nephew Michael Jackson of Lake Milton, niece Connie Biggs of East Rochester, nephew Sam Gamble of FL, niece Melinda (Gary) Kramer of MD. Friends may call Thursday 4-8 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Hartville. Funeral services are Friday 10 AM in the funeral home with Pastor John Wilson20officiating. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Randolph following the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the Humane Society.
