Donald Dale Green 1927-2015 88, of Hartville passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015. Don was born in Middlebranch, Ohio on June 3, 1927, the eldest son of the late Harry and Mabel (Werstler) Green; he was a graduate of Marlboro High School, class of 1945. He entered the U.S. Army upon graduation and served at the end of WWII as an M.P. in Berlin. Upon his return from the service, he started his career as a mechanic, first at Carlisle Motors in Marlboro, later at Schoner Chevrolet in Hartville, and retired from Monarch Rubber/Teledyne. Don married his high school sweetheart Faye in 1952 after a five year courtship. He was a "Jack-of-All-Trades", an original DIYer, a quiet man with an ingenious and creative mind that never ceased to amaze family and friends with his abilities. He was a lifetime member of the Hartville Lions Club serving over 50 years. As a past president of Lions, he received a Melvin Jones Fellowship and also a Knights of the Blind award. Don had also served as a past leader for Boy Scout Troop 45. Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Faye A. (Gibson) Green, his two sons; John M. Green of Saegertown, PA, Ron (Bev) Green of Hartville, and a daughter Susan (Dave) Baxter of St. Charles, IL, two grandchildren Kelly (Alex) Poe of Columbus and William Green of Hartville. Don was also survived by two sisters, LaVera (Harold) Moore of Hartville and Doris Thornberry of Marlboro and two sisters-in-law, Norma Green and Sonny Green. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Ralph (Sally) Green, Calvin Green, and Ray Green and a brother-in law Edward Thornberry A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
