IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores Mary
Janini
January 10, 1935 – March 22, 2025
Dolores Mary Janini (nee Wright), 90, formerly of Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at The Village of St. Edward at Fairlawn. She was born January 10, 1935, in Akron, Ohio, to Thomas Virlet Wright and Elizabeth Mary (Devereux) Wright. Following the passing of her mother in 1935, she was lovingly raised by her grandmother, Mary Ann (McGuinness) Wright, along with her aunts and uncles, Ella Frances (Clive Dewey) Showalter, Margaret Wright, Eugene Wright, and Richard Wright.
Dolores graduated from St. Vincent High School in Akron, Ohio, in 1953, where she excelled academically. She pursued a career in nursing, earning a Bachelor's degree in 1957 from St. John College in Cleveland and earning a Master's degree in Education from Kent State University in 1987. Throughout her career she worked in various capacities, but dedicated most of her career to educating future nurses. She was most proud of her many years serving as an instructor at St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing and as a clinical instructor of nursing at Kent State University's Tuscarawas Branch. She retired in 2000 after a distinguished career.
On October 8, 1960, Dolores married Dr. Dominic Paul Janini, D.D.S. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. They shared a loving marriage for nearly 60 years, partnered in the building of his Portage Lakes dental practice, and were devoted members of St. Francis DeSales Parish in Portage Lakes. Together, they raised five children: Charles (Tina) Janini, Thomas (Kathryn) Janini, Paul (Dana) Janini, Ellen Giovinazzo (Tim Myers), and Robert Janini. Dolores was also a devoted grandmother to Philip (Miriam) Ferko, Tristan (Emmalee) Janini, Gregory Janini, Charles Janini (Alexander Slaughter), Daniel Janini, Emily Rybak (Austin Blackerby), and Edward Janini (Olivia Krebs), as well as great-grandmother to Peter Roald Ferko and Thomas Eugene Janini.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Virlet Wright and Elizabeth Mary (Devereux) Wright; her husband, Dominic Paul Janini; her siblings, Thomas Wright, Robert Wright, and Dorothy Wright; her parents-in-law Charles and Philomena Giovinazzo; her sisters-in-law, Joan Wright and Joanne Giovinazzo, and her great-grandchild, Ansel Jude Janini. She is survived by her brothers-in-law, Anthony Giovinazzo and Lawrence Giovinazzo; sister-in-law, Sally Giovinazzo, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dolores found much joy with her family. Her favorite memories were of camping at Mount Desert Island, Maine, with Dom, their children, and grandchildren. She took immense pride in her family's achievements, especially the attainment of college degrees by all her children and grandchildren. Her legacy of strength and dedication will be cherished by all who knew her.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff at The Village of St. Edward at Fairlawn for their compassionate care.
