Diane L. McAtee, age 62, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday night August 23, 2009 after a brief illness. She was born in Canton on October 21, 1946 to the late Walter and Olive (Nussbaum) Geese and graduated from Hoover High School in 1964. She attended Kent State University, married David June 25, 1966, and while raising her children worked at the Plain Local Schools. Diane with her husband was active with GlenOak Band Parents and Baseball's Diamond Club. More recently, she was very active in raising her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband David; children Kimberly and Mike Crawfis, Melissa and Thomas Lynch, and Mike and Monica McAtee; grandsons Nicholas and Logan Crawfis and Sean Lynch all of Canton; sister Jill and Robert Pangrac of Cuyahoga Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the 10th floor staff at Mercy Medical Center. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 6 PM at St. Jacob Community Church of Cairo, 8169 Kent Ave., NE with Pastor Harold Oswald officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services and immediately following the services at the church.
