David P. Ziesmer, also known as Skip or Shaggy, age 62, peacefully passed into eternal life at Mercy Medical Center on Monday, March 3 following an extended illness. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1963, attended Capital University and graduated in 1967 from Malone College, where he met his future wife, Nancy Zilla. David's first job was with Republic Steel. Other employers include Fabricated Machine Company and Acro Tool and Die. He was vice-president and co-owner of Employee Benefit Concepts in Cuyahoga Falls, where he looked after his employees with care. David was a devoted husband and father who cherished his family and took pride in the work and accomplishments of his wife and sons. He made friends from all walks of life, and was especially proud of his work with youth. He served as assistant Boy Scout Master for Troup 265. As the co-founder of Camp Shaggy, the cross-country team camp for Jackson High School, he impacted the lives of countless young athletes, making lifelong friendships with parents and students over a thirteen year period. David was an avid sports fan, nature enthusiast, music lover and creative card player. While his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor will be most certainly enjoyed in his heavenly resting place, it will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. A member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, David made his peace with God following a stroke in 2007. He approached rehabilitation with courage and humor, exhibiting strength and determination in his efforts to recover. Funeral service will be Friday 1:00 P.M. in John Knox Presbyterian Church. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. A private entombment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
