IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David George
Gougler
August 1, 1947 – December 24, 2022
David George "Buzz" Gougler, a lifelong resident of Randolph, Ohio, died peacefully on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24, 2022. He was born on August 1, 1947 to the late Glen and Anna May (Albers) Gougler in Ravenna, Ohio.
Buzz grew up in his childhood home just a few houses down from Randolph High School where he attended school and graduated from in 1967. Often, you could have found him hanging around the family's popular ice cream stand known as "The Goody Shoppe" which was operated out of the front of their home. Like so many other young men in the late 1960's, Buzz was drafted into the Vietnam War in December of 1967. He bravely fought for his country until he was able to return home in July of 1969. He was always very proud to be a veteran and to have served his country honorably.
Anyone who knew Buzz knew his talent for fixing just about anything. Especially cars. You could always find him under someone's hood. Self-taught, he was a master at auto body work and could deliver a paint job worthy of any professional body shop in the area. In fact, Wise Chevrolet in Randolph, OH. recognized his talents and offered him a job when he returned home from the war. He later went on to work at Morgan Adhesives Co. in Stow, Ohio, where he eventually retired. His working years had provided him with a wealth of friends just too numerous to name. Those amazing friendships lasted until his passing. On any given day, you could always find a friend or neighbor sitting at the extra seat at his kitchen table, likely to talk about nothing of real importance most of the time, although those conversations were ALWAYS important to him.
He was predeceased by his parents Glen Gougler and Anna May (Albers) Gougler. He is survived by his daughters: Wendy Francis (husband Brian) of Hartville, Ohio, Heidi Romanoski (husband John) of Hartville, Ohio. His grandchildren: Joel and Jenna Francis and Hannah and Emma Romanoski. He is also survived by his only sister, Glenna (Gougler) Everhart of North Canton, OH, niece Sally (Jeff) Weber of North Canton, Ohio, nephew Eric (Tara) Everhart of North Canton, Ohio, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
To honor his wishes, no formal services will be held. A private burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph, Ohio. If you wish to send a special note or memory of Buzz for the family to read, please use the tribute tab on this obituary page.
