David Harold Bracken, 85, of Hartville, Ohio passed away on April 19, 2024, after an extended battle with dementia related complications. David was born on May 24, 1938, in Akron, OH and was raised by Fred Thomas and Mary Jane Shepard Bracken in Canton, Ohio.   David completed his primary education at Lehman High School, excelling in Football, Basketball and Baseball.

David's athletic talents would lead him to nearby Mt Union College in Alliance, OH where he furthered his baseball career as a four-year starter and later, Inducted into the Mt Union Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987.   At Mt Union, David was a member of the ATO Fraternity and met his college sweetheart, Janet Jones Bracken, which he eventually married for (51) years.

After college, David followed his father into the printing industry at Danner Press where he quickly rose into management roles and eventually ended up buying the company. Throughout his tenure at Danner Press, David continued to work within the Canton Community by mentoring in the Junior Achievement Organization.

Some of the highlights of David's career in the printing industry included building the Press of Ohio in Brimfield, OH from the ground up, being elected as the Printing Industry of America's (PIA) President for two consecutive terms and ultimately, his election to the Printing Hall of Fame in 2000.

David will be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to communicate with people on all levels.  His laugh and smile will be remembered by so many that he encountered during his life, be it at home with his family, his friends on the golf course or those that he fought so hard for in his work career.

Even in his latest years, David continued to be a positive impact in other people's lives at the Gables of Green.  Always saying Hi to someone he didn't know or trying to help someone else if they needed a helping hand.  David loved to work and believed that "nothing good happened until you work."  He will be missed by so many, and we are all grateful we got to call him Dad, Grandpa, friend, colleague, mentor, or countless other relationships David built over his years.

David is preceded in death by his son, David Thomas, and survived by his sons Douglas S. Bracken of North Canton and Daniel L Bracken of Lebanon, TN.  David had four grandchildren: Haley M. Bracken (NY), Jared A. Bracken (OH), Morgan K. Bracken (IL), and Jacob D. Bracken (IN).   David also had one great granddaughter, Scarlett J. Bracken (OH).

The family will be honoring David and his late son, David Thomas with a Celebration of Life in May.
