Darrell W. Steele Jr., age 87, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 25, 2011 with the comfort of his family by his side. He was born in Spencer, WV on March 10, 1924 to the late Darrell W. Sr. and Dona Clare (West) Steele. He served on the USS Indiana in the US Navy during WW II. Then Darrell married Maxine (Nichols) and in 1968 the family moved to Hartville from West Virginia. He retired from Teledyne Monarch in 1986. He loved vegetable gardening and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Maxine; daughter and son-in-law Mary (Gary) Crites of Mogadore; son David Steele; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; sister Annahale Hurst of San Diego, CA. Preceded in death by a son Samuel Darrell Steele May 14, 2010; and two brothers Brooke and Richard and a sister Catherine Short. Calling hours are Wednesday 6-8 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home and an hour prior to services on Thursday 10-11 AM.
