Darrel Nye Age 83, of Canton, died in his residence early Thursday morning after a brief illness. Born in Canton to the late Ralph and Gladys (Snyder) Nye; he was a 1948 graduate of Lehman High School, attended Culver Military Academy and was a 1954 graduate of Kent State University. An Army Veteran having served in the 1st Calvary division in Japan. Darrel was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Kent State Alumni Assoc, Canton Lodge #60 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Tadmor Temple, and a former member of DeMolay. Other affiliations include former Vice President of Ward Chrysler-Plymouth, Inc., President NIDA, Inc, Life Member of the Nye Family of America Assoc., Inc. and a member of Shady Hollow Country Club since 1962. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sally; and a brother, Thorald Nye. Survivors include his daughters: Kim Schneider, Son-in-law Ron Schneider of N. Canton and Lindy Nye of Maplewood, N.J.; grandchildren: Bijoux and Skyler; sister-in-law, Marie Nye; and a nephew, Roger Nye; and his cat 'Kitty'. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 23rd from 2 to 4 p.m. at Shady Hollow Country Club, 4865 Wales Ave. N.W., Massillon, Ohio, where they will celebrate Darrel's life.
