Obituary

Daniel Bontrager passed away Friday afternoon after a 2 year journey with cancer. He was born on June 27, 1944 to the late Dan and Anna Stutzman Bontrager. He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Ellen (Steiner) and their two sons and daughters-in-law, D. Brian and Maria, Eric and Polly; and the joy of his recent years, six grandsons: D. Grant, Dayne, Reed, Quinn, Elliot, and Emmit Bontrager; His supportive brothers and sisters: Harley (Sara), Elmer (Loretta), Paul (Lois) Bontrager, Betty McCrone, Mary (Roy) Yoder, Pauline (Lowell) Eby, Dorothy and Jeanne Bontrager and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Clara Ott. He was a member of the Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church, founder of Bontrager Excavating, and especially enjoyed being of service to others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ohio Wilderness Boys Camp, 44642 Zerger Quarry Road, Summerfield, OH, 43788. Calling hours will be Sunday 2-4 pm and 6-8pm at Bethany Mennonite Church, 3497 Edison St. NE (Route 619) Hartville. The funeral will be Monday 10:30 am at Bethany Mennonite Church with viewing one hour preceding the service. Burial will follow the service at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
