DALE W. KNOWLES Dale W. Knowles, 95, of Hartville, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 31, 2008 at Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center after a slow decline in health. A lifetime area resident, he was a 1931 graduate of Hartville High School. He was co-owner of The Knowles Press and The Hartville News from 1936 until his retirement in 1981. He was a fifty-three year member of the artville Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Chief of that department from 1949 to 1989. In later years, as an active member of the AARP Hartville Chapter 2433, he served as President and Program Chairman. He was a Trustee for the Lake Township Historical Society. He was inducted into the Lake High School Wall of Fame in 2003. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie; his son, Keith; and his brother, Alton. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Claudine; his son, Kim (Jane) Knowles of NM; his daughter, Kris (Fred) Jarzombek of AZ; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Knowles of Hartville; five grandchildren, Bryan (Rhonda) Knowles of North Canton; Anita Knowles of CA; Lisa Knowles of CO; Zak Campbell of Columbus, OH, and Ashley Campbell of VT; ine great-grandchildren; stepchildren,Patricia(Ken)Foster of Canton; Gary(Sue) Kocar of AZ; nieces and nephews.A Memorial Service to commemorate his life will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hartville Fire Department, 411 East Maple Street. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be at North Lawn Cemetery, Canton, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hartville Fire Department or any charity of one's choice.
