Domer

Dale E. Domer, age 84, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 30, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Born July 7, 1930 to the late Leo J. and Mabel M. (Warstler) Domer, Dale was a 1948 graduate of Hartville High School. He attended Manchester College in Indiana and later the Allied Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL. He retired from Teledyne Monarch as Maintenance Supervisor in 1985. Previously Dale had worked at Hartville Tool and Die Company. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and spent several months in Korea, receiving his honorable discharge in December 1952. Through the years Dale was active in the Rotary Club of Lake Township, serving as president for 2 terms and secretary for many more. In July of 2002, Dale at a surprise ceremony was presented The Paul Harris Fellow Award as a charter member of his local club and of his more than 44 years of dedicated service. He was also a member of the William McKinley Masonic Lodge #431 for 50 years and of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton for over 45 years. Dale was a talented craftsman and enjoyed sharing his wood-working and leaded glass creations. He took great pride in his lawn work and was known as "Mr. Fix-it". The Domers traveled many miles in their motor home and since 1989, spent several months of the year at their second residence in Port Charlotte, FL. It was there that they made many friends from the United States and Canada. He is survived by his devoted wife Elizabeth "Betty" Koontz Domer. They were married on January 21, 1951 and were anticipating their 64th wedding anniversary in 2015. Additionally, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, God daughter Colleen Carson of Durham, NC, and a multitude of friends. A very "special boy" came into Dale's life in 2002. His name is Tannor Boston and together they found the true meaning of grandfather and grandson. He was preceded in death by sister Goldie Domer (James) Anstine, brothers Virgil H. Domer and Melvin M. (Claris Norris) Domer, sister-in-law Geraldine "Geri" Myers, and brother-in-law Thomas C. Koontz. Calling hours are Friday 3-7 PM AT Hartville Church of the Brethren. All are invited to attend a Masonic service Friday 7 PM at the church after calling hours. Funeral services are Saturday 11 AM (calling hours 10-11 AM) in the church with Pastor Anthony DiMarco officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery with military honors.
