Cora Wengerd, age 85, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on Thursday night July 30, 2009 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Born on August 1, 1923 in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mose and Anna (Stutzman) Slabaugh. Cora was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Roman Wengerd in 1991. She was a faithful member of the Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church. Mom always had a hobby going but her main focus in life was her walk with the Lord and her love for her family of 11 children Melvin (Laura) Wengerd of Plain City, Esther (Ervin) Byler of , Cochranton, PA, Mary Jane (Sam) Schrock of Hartville, Ann (Wayne) Overholt of Greenwood, SC, Rachel (John) Lapp, Norman (Polly) Wengerd all of Hartville, Leon (Marie) Wengerd of , Nappanee, IN, Marlin (Tina) Wengerd of Dalton, Chris (Elwood) Miller of White Pigeon, MI, Joyce (Gerald) Wagler of Hartville, James (Cheryl) Wengerd of Hesston, KS; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; siblings Alma Eicher and Sara (John) Yoder all of Fredericksburg, Melvin (Carolyn) Slabaugh of Canton, and Eli (Adeline) Slabaugh of McGaheysville, VA; and many relatives and friends. Calling hours are Saturday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Hartville Conservative Mennonite Church, 10547 Market Ave.,N, Hartville. Funeral services are Sunday 2 PM at the church with Pastor Eugene Sommers officiating. Final resting place is Walnut Grove Cemetery.
