Connie Witmer

Connie Witmer passed away on April 6, 2026.

Connie was born Constance Ruth Pontius on March 24, 1934, to Sherman and Olive Pontius of Hartville. She graduated from Hartville High School. She married Roger Witmer of Ashland, Ohio and settled in Hartville until moving to Canton in 1963. She was a member of the Keeler Class at Grace United Church of Christ in Canton for 60 years.

Connie was preceded to Heaven’s Gate by husband Roger, brother Lorin Pontius, and sister Fern Ball.

Roger and Carrie are survived by two sons, Bob of Canton, and Ross (Maria) of Youngsville, North Carolina, and grandchildren, Roger, Robert (Catelynne), and Crystal, and great-granddaughter Charlotte, all of North Carolina. She is also survived by sister Eleanor (Ron) Young of Canton and brother Terry Pontius of Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 14, 2026, at 11 AM at Grace United Church of Christ, 2300 Cleveland Ave N, Canton. Inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery next to her husband at 2:45 PM.
