Closson Grey Hanthorn, 95, of Canton, OH passed away peacefully on February, 18th 2025 with his wife by his side, holding his hand. Closson was born October 24th, 1929 to Robert Closson and Edna Blair Hanthorn in Somerville Twp., Victoria Co., Ontario, Canada.
Closson is survived by his loving wife of 68 ½ years, Betty Elaine Smith whom he married on August 4th, 1956. Closson is preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers and sisters, Beulah, Blair, Lorna and Gayle and great-granddaughter Jewel.

He attended Central Baptist Seminary graduating in the class of 1955 and he was ordained on September 25th 1971 to preach the Precious Word of God to all through his long journey of life.
Our Dad was led by God to Canton, OH in 1972 to impact lives at the Canton Baptist Temple, where he served the Lord for 53 years through missions, leadership, bus ministry, visitation and shut-ins ministries. Even though Dad retired from Canton Baptist Temple in 1994 he never stopped visiting those in hospital or shut-ins.
Our Dad and Grandfather has always been an example to us through his love for the Lord, his kindness toward others and concern for their eternal destination. What an amazing impact he had on so many!
The most precious memory of our Dad was his amazing prayer life. Dad was a prayer warrior, along with our Mom, praying, not only for his family by name on a daily basis, but also his prayer for others.
We all Love you Dad and while we miss you, we look forward to seeing you again in heaven with Jesus.
