Claudia Matthew Novoa, age 92, of Canton passed on in the comfort of her home, Friday, January 9, 2009 with her family by her side. She was born August 23, 1916 in Rodas, Cuba to the late Robert J. Matthew Pike and Guillermina Rangel Hernandez. She was a retired teacher, a life-long student, and writer. Survived by her husband of 58 years, Alfredo Novoa Franco; son, Dr. Roberto Novoa; daughter, Maria D. Novoa Matthew; daughter-in-law; Dr. Marisa Herran; grandchildren, nieces and nephews of Canton and Puerto Rico.
