IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarice Silver
Reines
September 16, 1923 – October 12, 2008
CLARICE SILVER REINES Clarice Reines, 85, formerly of North Canton, Ohio passed away on Sunday morning October 12, 2008, at Sarasota, Florida. Mrs. Reines is survived by her daughters, Marsha Reines Perelman of Wynnewood, PA, and Joan Reines Wean of Orlando, FL and granddaughter Alison Reines Perelman of Philadelphia, PA. Mrs. Reines was born in Canton, OH on September 16, 1923, the daughter of Doba and Max Silver, and the youngest sister of the late Ruth Zellinger, the late Frances Shapiro and the late Blema Finesman. She was raised and educated in Canton, and graduated from Lehman High School. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where she received a degree in education. After graduating Mrs. Reines returned to Canton where she taught elementary school. In Canton she also met her beloved husband, the late Dan Reines. They were married from January 9, 1949 until his death on November 19, 2004. During the 1950s she raised a loving and close-knit family and then devoted much time to caring for her widowed mother and the extended families of her sisters, all of whom were widowed with children during the 1960s. Throughout her life she remained steadfastly committed to her family and especially to her husband during his later years of declining health. Nevertheless Mrs. Reines still found time for a career and community involvement. Starting in the late 1960s she worked as a licensed broker at the Cutler Real Estate Agency where she sold commercial and residential real estate, and where she developed an eye for shrewd real estate investments in Canton. She was active in the life of the Temple Israel Congregation, including the Temple Sisterhood and Hadassah. She was a founder of the Temple's talking books program, where books were read aloud and recorded for playback for sight-impaired people. She chaired Center Ball for the Jewish Community Center and also co-chaired the Women's Capital Campaign for Timken Mercy Hospital. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Israel, 333 25th Street NW, Canton, followed by interment at Northlawn Cemetery in Canton. Immediately following interment the family will receive condolences at the Temple Israel library. With her husband, she established the Dan and Clarice Reines Endowment Fund at Temple Israel. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Clarice Reines, a remarkable woman, dearly loved by family and friends and known as a compassionate, loving and courageous woman by all, may be sent to the Dan and Clarice Reines Endowment Fund.
