CLARA ABRAMS Clara Abrams, age 81, passed away September 3, 2006, at her home, following a brief illness. She was born July 17, 1925, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Meyer and Alice (Friedman) Putterman. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan, whom she married May 19, 1946; and sisters, Annabelle Adler, Sylvia Nashbar, and Min Mervis; and a brother, Norm Patters. Clara is survived by her son, Steven Abrams of Loudonville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Peggy Abrams of Bolivar; grandson Michael Paul Abrams and wife, Heather, and three great-grandchildren also of Loudonville; sister and brother-in-law, Gert and Milt Kades of Cleveland, and many devoted nieces and nephews. In her younger years, Clara taught nursery school at the Akron Jewish Center and Canton Jewish Center. She also worked as a secretary for Park Honda (& Marine) and Avalon Travel Center. She most recently served as a volunteer at Temple Israel, where she was a member. An avid golfer, Clara was a member of Edgewood Golf Course and the Stark County Grasshoppers. She was also a member of the Lady Elks Lodge #2029 and Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles #2223, and the "ladies' walking group" from the North Canton YMCA. A funeral service will be held at Temple Israel on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at 11:00 A.M., Rabbi John Spitzer officiating. Interment at North Lawn Cemetery following the service. The family would like to thank Hospice of Stark County, the home health aides of Northeast Professional Homecare, and Clara's numerous friends who lovingly cared for Clara during her illness.
