Obituary

Christina Irene Kurtz, of Crandall Medical Center went to be with Jesus on Tuesday October 5, 2010. Christina was born December 18, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Joseph C. and Thelma I. (Kissinger) Kurtz. She attended Plum Borough School until 1958 when she moved to Ohio with her cousin and was a graduate of Salem Bible School. He deep love for God and children lead her to continue her education at Salem Bible College, graduating in 1964 as salutatorian with a Bachelors degree in Education, also attended Malone College in Canton, Ohio. Her dreams were to see children excel in learning and spiritual things. For thirty-five years she taught in various Christian Day Schools. (Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia and last in Hartville, Ohio where she had to retire because of her health.) Christina was talented in music and she wanted others to have an opportunity to learn so she spent her spare time giving private piano lessons to students and others. Many young lives have been touched, giving of herself to help others in Vacation Bible School and Junior Church. In addition to teaching, travel was also part of her life even in the days of failing health. Summer time was time to go to camp meeting, visiting relatives, and enjoying the friendship of friends. She was a member of Bethany Mennonite Church in Hartville and attended Salem Bible Methodist Church. Survived by her brothers Joseph (Ruth) Kurtz of Spruce Creek, PA, Paul (Naomi) Kurtz of PA; sisters Naomi (Norman Ray) Seely of Salem, Martha (David) Miller of Uniontown, Eunice (James) Caster of Seattle, WA; many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by a sister Mary (Raymond) Schrock and an infant brother Christian. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 and an hour prior to services (Fri 12 noon- 1 PM) at Bethany Mennonite Church, 3497 Edison St (Route 619), Hartville. Funeral services are Friday 1 PM at the church with Pastor Dave Slabaugh officiating. Final resting place is Walnut Grove Cemetery. Arnold 330-877-9364 www.arnoldfuneralhome.com
