Charles Joseph Rapport, age 61, who was known to many as Chuck, unexpectedly passed away at Aultman Hospital on January 16th, 2013. Chuck was born to Albert and Hilda Kauffman Rapport on January 2, 1952 in Dover. He was a devout family man, business leader, and prominent member of the Canton Jewish community as well as a member of Mason Lodge #177, New Philly Elk's Lodge, and Temple Israel. In addition, Chuck coached basketball at the Canton Jewish Community Center and also served on the board. From early on, Chuck worked hard to ensure that Tuscarawas Auto Parts, his father's legacy, would be a source of prosperity for his entire family. While a successful business led to 5 a.m. wake ups for Chuck, his love, Ellen (Goldstein) Rapport gave meaning to it all. Chuck and Ellen's marriage created a union that celebrated 37 years of marriage this past December. Together, Chuck and Ellen built a happy home that Freddie and Andrea, their children, pride themselves in coming home to. Filled with memories, stories, and jokes, it was always clear that Chuck was proud of his two children. Freddie, who joined Tuscarawas Auto Parts to work alongside his father and Uncle Kenneth M. Rapport, has been able to continue the legacy the Rapport family created over 75 years ago. Freddie will carry forth the vision, action, and hard work ethic that was instilled in him by his father. His daughter Andrea inherited many of his wonderful traits. Like Chuck, Andrea's compassion is genuine and heartfelt and shines through her work as a child life specialist at the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hilda Kauffman Rapport, and brother Kenneth M. Rapport. He is survived by: wife, Ellen (Goldstein) Rapport of Canton, son, Freddie Rapport of Massillon, daughter, Andrea Rapport of Cleveland, sister, Davetta Rapport of New Philadelphia, sister and brother in law, Lois & Art Brenner of Cumming, GA, sister in law, Neila Gerald of Baltimore, MD, and many nieces and nephews. Chuck will be forever loved and remembered by the 3 Pillars that were of utmost importance to him; Ellen, Freddie, and Andrea. Services for Chuck will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 11am at Temple Israel. Address is: 432 30th St. N.W., Canton, Ohio. They will be led by Rabbi Jon Adland, Rabbi John Spitzer, and Cantor Bruce Braun. Interment will follow at Canton Hebrew Cemetery. Memorials should be made to Temple Israel.
