Charles (Chuck- Poppy) H. Owens Sr., age 85, of Hartville passed away, January 22, 2026. He was born in Canton on January 12, 1941, and a graduate of McKinley High School. He received an Honorable Discharge from the USAR in 1967. Chuck was employed thirty years at the Timken Company HSP in Canton, Ohio. His retirement in 1992 allotted him thirty-four years of “Beneficial Bucket List” ideas: Lawn Grooming (aka pattern design), Auto Reconditioning, traveling to the NTPA Competitions, Morning coffee with his daughter, Vacationing in the mountains, Attending Performing Arts Programs and spending time with his dogs, family and friends. He especially enjoyed meeting and communicating with people. His strong work ethic, generosity and spiritual empathy for those unsung heroes in the world, made him accessible and loveable to all.
In addition to his parents, Henry and Elizabeth (Weigle) Owens, Charles was preceded in death by brother John Owens, two sons Terry Owens and Charles Owens Jr, former with Linda Czerkies and two half-brothers Robert and Ben Owens.
He is survived by his daughter Sherry L Owens, grandchildren Zachary R. Ginther and Alec D. Ginther and a loving” help mate” for the last thirty-eight years, Patricia Griffith.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to your favorite animal shelter or rescue.
*** Chuck believed life is a personal story, although you cannot rewrite the beginning, God gives everyone the opportunity to author the future.
