"Chubby" Wingerter
July 22, 1927 – March 3, 2012
Charles E. Wingerter (Chubby) age 84, passed away Mar. 3, 2012 following an extended illness. Born in Canton, Ohio July 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Herman and Hazel Wingerter. He served in the navy from 1944 till 1946 during World War II. He was a machinist by trade and worked at the EW Bliss Company for many years. He was also one of the founders of Chubby Treats in Jackson Township and the business was also named after him. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton, Ohio. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Ronald (Lou) Wingerter and sister Janet Shevehook. He is survived by his loving wife Jean Wingerter with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage this past July 6th, daughter and son-in-law Cherrie and Steve Zehnder and son and daughter-in-law Chuck J. and Rhonda Wingerter all of North canton. Two grandsons Steve (Cara) Zehnder & Charles M (Dawn) Wingerter and granddaughters Holly (Marc) Lewis and Jen Wingerter, great grandchildren Matthew, Brian, Anna, and Emalee Zehnder, Alexis Lewis, and Vincent and Gibson Wingerter. Sister-in-law Betty Wingerter and many nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Betsy Baum and the entire staff at Bethany Nursing Home for their excellent and loving care. A mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday in St. Paul's Catholic Church of North Canton with Fr. Stephen Ziegler as officiant, followed by military honors. A private interment will be for the family. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W.
