Catherine (Kay) Speyer Saul (nee Halter), age 85, passed away on Monday September 3, 2012. She was born in Canton, Ohio on March 22, 1927 to the late Ellis and Hilda (Leighmiller) Halter and graduated from Washington High School in 1945. She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After marrying her first husband, Jack Speyer, they moved to Canton where they raised four children. Kay worked in a Canton law firm for five years. After her children started school, she went to work for the State of Ohio, Services for the Blind. She managed food programs operated by the blind. She retired in 1990 to travel with her second husband, Herb Saul. Kay leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Suzanne Speyer of Painesville; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Gregory Grimes of Hilliard; 5 grandchildren Markee, Lindsey and Zachery Speyer, Lee and Jake Grimes; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Bernie Green of Canton; sister-in-law Mary Halter; and her beloved cat George. She was preceded in death by her first husband Jack Speyer in 1981; son Mark S. Speyer in 1987 and daughter Ellen L. Speyer in 2009; second husband Herbert H. Saul in 2007; siblings Ruth Halter, Marcella Halter, Dorothy Slaggy, Rita Halter, Roy Halter, Louie Halter and Nora Greenfelder. A graveside service will be held Thursday September 6th at 11:00 a.m. at North Lawn Cemetery in Canton with Rabbi Jon Adland and Rabbi Matthew Eisenberg officiating.
