Caroline Josephine "Carol Jo" Zaiser, age 88, of Canton, passed on peacefully Thursday night September 28, 2006 in her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 9, 1918 along with her identical twin sister, Mary Jane in Canton to the late David and Bertha (Halbritter) Margo. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Carl DeMarsh and by her two older brothers Henry and Charles Margo. She is survived by her husband Harvey W. "Bill" Zaiser with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage this past April 17; daughters, Sandra Dowding of Carlsbad, California, Mary Jo and Stephen Robbins of North Canton; sons, James J. and Judy Zaiser of Eldorado Hills, California, Robert W. and Suzanne Zaiser of Trabuco Canyon, California ; twin sister, Mary McCall Immel of Canton; 9 grandchildren, Stephen Dowding, Matthew, Jeffrey Zaiser, Sean Duck, Michael, Alex and Patrick Robbins, Jake and Sam Zaiser; 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She graduated from East Canton High School in 1936, received her Registered Nurse Degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1939 and was very proud to be a "Mercy Nurse". She served as Lieutenant in the US Army Nurse Corp. during WW II. Carol Jo was a school nurse with the Canton City Schools for twenty years and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She loved volunteering in the community and some of her activities included Community Christmas, McKinley Museum Auxiliary, Canton City Schools and Canton Fine Arts. Mrs. Zaiser was also a member of Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Trirosis and the Canton Bridge Club. She loved serving and giving. She was the Canton City Schools Senior Volunteer Award 2004-2005 recipient. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. A Prayer Service will be held Monday 4:45 PM Monday in the Arnold Funeral Home. Calling hours will be Monday 5-8 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 10 AM in St. Peter's Catholic Church with Msgr. John C. Finnigan Celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Garden.
