Carole S. Dougherty, age 79, of Canton died on Friday in Aultman Hospital. Born in Canton to the late Harold & Mary Grayce (Miller) Stover she had been a life resident. Carole was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School where she met her future husband Ronald W. Dougherty as they were both members of the band. She was also a 1954 graduate of Otterbein College. She was an elementary teacher having taught in Virginia and Ohio. Carole was actively involved in numerous community activities to include member and past president of the following: Canton Woman's Club, Rainbow Club, Canton Jaycees Auxiliary, and Stark County Lawyers Wives. She was also very active with the Hall of Fame Festival having been past chairperson for the Fashion Show and the Queens Pageant. Over the years Carole attended nine Super Bowls and nine Pro Bowls in Honolulu, HA. Other memberships include Christ Presbyterian Church, Shady Hollow Country Club, Firestone Country Club and the executive committee of the 1950 class of Lincoln High School of which she was co-chairperson for many reunions. Carole was an enthusiastic traveler having visited England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland and Mexico. She also attended many professional golf tournaments with her husband and loved staying at their villa in Hilton Head. Carole is survived by her husband of 57 years: Ronald W. Dougherty. Daughter: Kerry J. Dougherty of Canton, son: Russell D. (Lourdes) Dougherty of Hilton Head, SC. Three grandsons: Thomas Tyler and Shaun. Brother Jack D. (Helen) Stover of Canton. Five nieces: Joan Shoults, Dr. Cynthia Dougherty Thompson, Dr. Linda Dougherty Schmidt, Beth Schaffer and Amy Stover Thomas. Two nephews: Todd Stover & David Hoffman. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2011 in Christ Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wendy Bausman officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Sunday (today) from 12 to 3:00 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 710 Tuscarawas St. W.
