IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carole E.
Bowers
November 21, 1936 – January 22, 2011
Carole E. Bowers, age 74, of North Canton passed away Saturday morning in Altercare of Nobles Pond. Born in Spencer, WV to the late Victor & Erma (Anderson) Corder. She later moved to the Akron area and graduated from Manchester High School and went to work for BMW in Barberton and later worked at the Hoover Credit Union. While in Akron she met the love of her life, Donald Bowers, to whom she was married for fifty one years. Through the years Carole stayed active by raising her daughters, volunteering for the church and local schools and having a wide social circle of friends. Many years ago she started to have kidney failure but through taking good care of herself and being surrounded by a strong support system she kept her kidney way past when doctors predicted. When the time came for a kidney replacement both of her brothers came forward and Charles donated one of his. This is the kind of family values that Carole was raised with and continued to exercise her entire life. Carole also did incredible needlework, read, played bridge and doted her grandsons. She was a former member of Jennette Chapter OES, was a former deacon and member of Christ Presbyterian Church, and Presbyterian Women, and was a volunteer at the Hower House and traveled all over the world. When the time came, family and friends were near her side. Carole is survived by her husband Donald, daughters: Susan (Brian) Fortner of New Albany, OH, Cheryl (Steve) Brian of Canton. Grandsons: Jonathan, Grant and Brennan Fortner. Sisters-in-law: Sue Corder and Wauneta Richey, brother - in - law and sister - in law: Richard & Kathleen Bowers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers: Doyle, Harold & Charles Corder and sister-in-law Barbara Corder. She will be missed by her special friends from Lakeview Co-Ed Class, and other close friends, many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank the staff of Altercare of Nobles Pond. A memorial service will be 11:30 A.M. Tuesday in Christ Presbyterian Church with Rev. David deVries officiating. A private interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery Akron, OH. Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 710 Tuscarawas St., W.
