Obituary

Carl R. Waltenbaugh, age 86, of North Canton died Monday morning in Aultman Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Tarentum, PA he had resided here since 1927. Carl was a Veteran of World War II having served with the Army Signal Corp. A retired employee of the Hoover Company after 45 years of service he was also an avid Ham Radio Operator for 70 years using call letters W8QHD. He was a member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, Hoover Lodge #770 F & AM, and AASR Valley of Canton. In addition to his parents Walter S. and Anna (Asche) Waltenbaugh he was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy, Margaretta and Louise. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Vivian (Rankin) Waltenbaugh of the residence; daughter, Susan Haines of Dayton, OH; son, Carl R. (Karen) Waltenbaugh of Oak Park, Ill; five grandchildren: Kristina and Sarah Haines, Gretchen Waltenbaugh, Mrs. Heidi Parker, and Karl Dietrich Waltenbaugh; brother, Walter S. Waltenbaugh, Jr. of Uniontown, OH. Funeral service will be Wednesday 1:00 p.m. in the Spiker - Foster - SHRIVER Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. with Rev. Jonathan R. Reese officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, 2521 12th St., N.W. Canton, OH 44708.
