Carl Maitland Good Hoover, died May 20, 2006 in Florida. Mrs. Hoover was born March 28, 1918 in Memphis, TN the daughter of Thomas Lucas Good and Carl Terrell. She was educated at The Holton Arms School in Washington DC and Rollins College where she met her future husband Herbert William Hoover Jr. son of the founder and the future president of the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Company. Carl is survived by her two children Herbert W. Hoover III and Elizabeth Lacey Hoover and by her three grand sons Herbert W. Hoover IV, Maximilian S. Hoover and Colton Hoover Chase as well as great grandson Enrico Hoover. Carl was known as a prodigious needlepointer, creating well over 75 major pieces which are today revered by her many collectors. She was also known and loved for her volunteering and charity work providing comfort and counseling to hospital patients for more than 20 years. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 P.M. on Friday in the Spiker-Foster-SHRIVER Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., N.W. A private funeral service will be in the Hoover Family Mausloeum in North Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Wendy L. Bausman officiating. Those who desire may make a donation to their favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
