Obituary

Carl R. "Bud" Lothamer, age 88, of North Canton, passed away Thursday in the Canton Regency following a brief illness. Born in Canton to the late Russell and Hazel (Reed) Lothamer, he resided here for most of his life. Bud was an Army Veteran of WW II where he served as a medic. He was the retired Treasurer of the Duerr - Smith - Lane Insurance Company, and was then affiliated with the Leonard Insurance Agency after the acquisition of Duerr - Smith - Lane. Bud was a 1939 graduate of Lehman High School and received a BA degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. He was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Retired Executives' Club, Westfield Country Club, Elk's #2029, was past founder and president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, past Chairman of the United Way Budget Committee and in recent years enjoyed working as a starter at Tam - O' - Shanter Golf Course. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sons: John and Peter Lothamer. He is survived by his wife, Marian, Daughter: Linda Psomiades of Massillon, Grandaughter: Melinda (James) Ickes of Hudson, OH ., Great grandson: Beckham Ickes, and Brother: Jack (Mary) Lothamer of Canton. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 31, 2009 at John Knox Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Patton officiating. Entombment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in church on Monday. In lieu of flowers it was Bud's wish that contributions be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church, 5515 Eastllake Street, N.W., North Canton, OH 44720.
