Obituary

Carl J. Bendroth age 89 died September 1st, 2009 after a steady decline in health. Carl was born to the late Agnes (Larson) and Holgar-Casey Bendroth on June 10th 1920 in Stark County, Ohio. Carl was 1938 graduate of Canton McKinley High School. He served in the army during WW II in the 1832nd Service Command Military Police and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked 33 ½ years for E.W. Bliss company retiring in 1984 as Sales Engineer. Carl was an active member of Reedurban Presbyterian church as well as a Life member of Moose International. His true passion was taking care of his home and yard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Jane (Reeder-Sells) in 1984, his son Carl in 1985, brother Earl in 2008, and Son-in-law Joseph Kearns in 2008. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Mary Lou (Maxwell-Quass) Bendroth of the home. A daughter Carol K. Mayer of Federal Way, WA, son Greg (Sue) Sells of Tempe, AZ. Two other daughters, Michele R. Kearns of Brunswick, OH and Nancy (Reg) Reynolds of Lufkin, TX. One brother Bruce (Midge) Bendroth of Canton and Sister-in-law Priscilla Bendroth of Birmingham, AL. 7 grandchildren, Christina (Billy) Heppe of Canton, Janet (Jason) Tabor of Tucson, AZ, Chris (Jody) Mayer, Scott Mayer, and Amy Powell of WA., Maxwell (fiancée Maggie) and Nick (fiancée Laci) Reynolds of Lufkin, TX. 10 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kayla and Jacob Heppe of Canton, Travis and Logan Mayer, and Addison Powell of WA. Matthew and Alexander Tabor of Tucson, AZ. Kaden Thornhill of Lufkin, TX, and Christopher Hockett of IL. 3 nieces, Marcia (Tod) Tatum, of Atlanta, GA, Sally (Dr. Richard Whitley of Vestavia Hills, AL and Nancy (Jon) Kaufmann of North Canton. 2 nephews Tommy Eframedes of Canton and Danny (Donna) McManus of TX and his granddog Rommie. Also many cousins, close friends, and Evelyn Richardson Gray of TX mother of Carol and Carl. Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Darrell Holmes at Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW at 11:00 AM Friday September 4th with commitment at North Lawn Cemetery. As Carl wished there will be no calling hours and the services will be followed by a luncheon at Reedurban Presbyterian Church, 1145 Perry Dr. NW, Canton for family and friends. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Reedurban Presbyterian Church organ or building fund, Alzheimers Assoc. or charity of donors choice. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Manor Care and Heartland Hospice who took such tender loving care of him the past two months.
