Brian E. Slates, age 54, of Wellsville, formerly of Hartville, passed away unexpectedly August 9, 2025, at his residence. He was born January 8, 1971, in Akron, to Ronald and Joanne (Hixon) Slates. Brian was a 1989 graduate of Lake High School. He was a Pipe Liner, working on the Keystone Pipeline.  He fell in love with the western United States, especially Wyoming and Oregon, which he called "God's Country". Brian loved the Lord and he loved his family.  He also loved cars (Mustangs) and the solitude of being outdoors.

He is survived by his mother and step-father,  Joanne (Michael) Lebo; father and step-mother, Ronald (Dixie) Slates; brothers and sisters, Mark (Lori) Slates, Michael (Heidi) Lebo, Jr., Beth Scheetz, Kelly (Chuck) Ikey, Kathy (Steve) Chenevey, Robert (Courtney) Lebo. Step brothers and sisters, Rick (Kim) Haines, Doug (Anne) Haines, Brenda Barnhart, and Danny Singer and also loved his many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by step-sister, Dannilee McGunagel and step-brother David Singer.

Cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time. In memory of Brian, donations can be made to Hope United (Tyler's Redemption Place).
