Blair Clifford Woodside, Jr., age 94 of North Canton, died Fri day, May 15, 2015 in Windsor Medical Center. He was born October 6, 1920 in Canton to Blair C. and Hattie Belle (Nordick) Woodside. Blair graduated from Canton township High School in 1938 and attended Akron University. Mr. Woodside was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II, and served as a pilot stationed in India, flying the China Burma Hump. His medals included Asiatic-Pacific with 3 Battle Stars, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of the WW II Hump Pilots Association and the Fourth Combat Cargo Group. His career with the Hoover Company began in the personnel department, then Manager of the Personnel Department and retired in 1985 as manager of the Benefits, Pensions and Payroll Department. He served as past president of Stark County Personnel Association. Blair was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in North Canton. Other memberships include Oakwood Country Club, Kent State University Stark Branch Interfaith Campus Ministry, member of BPO Elks North Canton Lodge 2029 and Canton Lodge #60 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie M. Woodside in 2008. Survived by his sons, Blair III and Annette of Bethesda, Maryland, Bruce W. of North Hollywood, California, Brian L. and Patricia of Copley, Ohio and Brent A. (Tina Campian) of North Canton; eleven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law William C. and Jean of Akron; nephew and niece William Jr. and Cindy of Uniontown, and Sue Woodside of Akron. Friends may call Sunday 4-6:00 p.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home, Canton and one hour prior to services 1-2:00 p.m. Monday in Zion Lutheran Church of North Canton. Funeral services are Monday 2:00 p.m. in the church with Pastor Mark Sherwindt officiating. Final resting place is North Canton Cemetery.
