Beverly J. Souers, age 85, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday May 19, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born in Canton on May 27, 1930 to the late Alvin and Maybelle (Fair) Petersen and graduated from Timken High School in 1948. She met Mitchell Souers at a church youth conference and they married February 10, 1949. Beverly worked at Canton Local Schools in the cafeteria staff and for election polls.

Beverly was a life member of the First Church of the Resurrection where she served in many types of ministry. She also served with East Ohio Emmanuel Emmaus with her husband since 1989 to present, served with Indian River Juvenile Correction Facility, and volunteered at Aultman Hospital.

She loved nature and was a nurturer of people. She enjoyed spending summers at their place at Leesville Lake. Especially, she loved her family and her many grandchildren.

Survived by her husband of 67 years, Mitch; son Daryl (Dawn) Souers of Louisville, Denis (Pam) Souers of Canton, Duane (Charlotte) Souers of Forest, VA; grandchildren Derek (Heidi), Dustin (Elizabeth), Kristin (Austin) Cole, Jenna (fiance David Powers), Ryan (Laura), Adam (Alia), Jason (Laura Fenno) Souers; great-grandchildren Christina and Daniel, Broden and Maelyn; sister Lois (Rick) Petree; and many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Arnold Funeral Home Canton and an hour prior to services in the church Monday 10-11 AM. Funeral services are Monday 11 AM in the First Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Dr. Bruce Mont officiating. Final resting place is Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the church or Aultman Hospice.
