Beverly Barber Smith, age 83, of North Canton, passed away Friday December 21, 2018. She was born in Flint, Michigan on July 6, 1935 to the late Jack Edwin and Clara Murphy Barber. Beverly married John Allen Smith and they raised three children.

She was a North Canton Friendly Hostess for over 20 years and past president of the following groups and organizations: North Canton Junior Woman's Club, Stark County Council of Federated Woman's Clubs, Stark County Dental Auxiliary, Congress Lake Garden Club, Cantiques' Club, and United Methodist Women. She was a charter member of Faith United Methodist Church and member of Congress Lake Country Club.

She is survived by her husband Dr. John Smith; son and daughter-in-law Bret Allen and Akiyo Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter Julie Smith Schober of Aspen, Colorado; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Dick George of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren Jacqueline, Michael, and James Smith. Preceded in death by son Mark Smith in 1994.

Calling hours are Saturday January 5, 10-11 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, 300 Ninth St., North Canton, 44720. Funeral services are Saturday January 5, 11 AM in the church with Rev. Cara Stultz Costello officiating, a reception luncheon will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church. Condolences can be made directly to the residence as Julie is moving back to North Canton to be with her father.
