Betty J. Shoemaker, age 90, of Marlboro Township, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday January 30, 2016. She was born in Marlboro Township on March 25, 1925 to the late Wilbur and Ida (Moser) Slusser. She graduated from Marlboro High School and married Donald Shoemaker on March 30, 1946. Betty was a life long member of Werner United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, Donald; brothers Richard, Herb and Ray Slusser; sister Margaret (Chester) Gonter; son-in-law Kenneth Schaeffer; and 3 grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Karen (Dave) Thomas of Illinois, Kay (Ed) Peterson of Hudson, Kristine Shoemaker of Beloit, Kenneth (Ruth) Shoemaker of Hartville, Keith (Dawn ) Shoemaker of Louisville, Kathryn (Bryan) Gerber of Hartville; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Grace (Herb) Tyson, Maxine (Paul) Shetler all of Florida; sisters-in-law Shirley Slusser of Hartville, Berdine Walker of North Canton and Joan Shoemaker of Middlebranch.

Calling hours are Wednesday 4-7 PM and one hour prior to services Thursday 10-11 AM at Arnold Funeral Home. Funeral services are Thursday 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Lawrence officiating. Final resting place is Mount Peace Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Warner United Methodist Church or American Brain Foundation.
