Betty J. Pierce, age 77, of Magnolia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday night, June 24, 2009 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Morgantown, WV on April 4, 1932 to the late Otis and Blanche (Clark) Holmes. She retired from Republic Steel Culvert Division. She attended both Hartville and East Sparta Church of Christ. She loved gardening, flowers, living on the farm, and her family. Preceded in death by her husband Clarence Austin in 1977, husband Russell Pierce in 1992, grandson Richard Hanna in 2003, and son Jerry Allen Austin in 2005 and brother Donald Holmes; she is survived by her daughter Sandra Hanna of Canton; son John Austin of Magnolia; grandchildren Jerry Austin of Canton, Mike Austin of Mineral City, Cathy Austin, Jonathan Austin, and April Hanna all of Canton; several great-grandchildren; sisters Marlene McCoin of Hartville and Hazel Shaffer of WV; other relatives and friends. Calling hours are Sunday 3-6 PM in the Arnold Funeral Home Canton. Funeral services are Monday 11 AM in the funeral home with Dean Miller officiating. Final resting place is Henry Warstler Cemetery.
