Obituary

Betty Jean Muzzy (nee) Biddle, age 90, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 after a long and fruitful life surrounded by family, at the home she and her husband Jim Muzzy, the late WHBC Sports Director and Dean of Ohio Sportscasters, designed and built together 44 years ago. She was born September 22, 1921 in Lonaconing, Maryland, but spent all of her childhood in Akron, Ohio, with her parents and brother. She graduated as a member of the National Honor Society in 1939 from Akron East High School. She moved to Canton in 1943 when she married the love of her life, Jim Muzzy. She was a homemaker her entire life, raising four children and helping care for her only grandson and granddaughter. She regularly volunteered her time as a Cub Scout den mother, a Brownie leader, classroom mother, recess aide, and festival worker at Our Lady of Peace, an active Glenwood Athletic booster club member, and a member of Bob O Link golf club. Betty asked that we acknowledge and thank her bowling, golfing and bridge club friends as well as the surviving wives of Jim's radio colleagues. Their involvement in her life eased the pain of her 22 years without Jim and was a rewarding time in her life. Left to cherish her memory are her four children, James V. Muzzy, Jr. (Judy) of Avon, Ohio, Richard L. Muzzy (Eva) of Steven's Point, Wisconsin, Barbara J. Moldovan Reinker (Jeff) of Chardon, Ohio, Robert M. Muzzy (Joy) of Bay Village, Ohio, grandson, Ryan C. Moldovan (Abbie) of Orlando, Florida, granddaughters, Isabel L. & McKenna Muzzy of Bay Village, Ohio, sister-in-law, Charlotte Muzzy (Leonard Muzzy) and 17 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James V. Muzzy, her father George H. Biddle and mother Louise Biddle (nee) Anderson, her brother George (Robert) Biddle, son-in-law, Samuel J. Moldovan., maternal grandparents William and Minerva Anderson (nee) Miller, paternal grandmother Caroline Biddle and sister-in-law Marion Laubacher, the last of Jim's siblings, who died at age 93 just nine weeks ago. A brief service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Please no flowers, other than your prayers, contributions may be made to Aultman Hospice and Palliative Care 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW Canton, OH 44708.
