Betty K. Frerichs, age 88 died March 11, 2007. Born in Canton, the only child of John and Arland (Edwards) Keller and widow of Ralph C. Frerichs who died June 1985, She was graduated from McKinley High School and received a degree in Elementary Education from Miami University. She taught at Bell H. Stone and Woodland Schools. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on council, member of the Altar Guild, choir, leader of Elizabeth Circle. President of the women's group, and a strong supporting member of the Urban Ark ministry. Mrs. Frerichs served as Chairman of the Women's Advisory council of Malone College and throughout the years served in a leadership capacity in fund raising as co-chairman of the Forum Lecture Series. She was also a member of the Malone Advisory Council. She was a member of College Club of Canton, Timken Mercy Service League, Good Will Rehabilitation Center, Friends of the Library, and the a charter member of the Symphony League in which she was made an honorary member. Over a 30 year member of Brookside Country Club. She served as president for eight years for Needlework Guilds' 22 sections helping stock cupboards of United Way agencies receiving the United Ways Golden Key Award for their involvement in 1972. Mrs. Frerichs was also very active in the United Arts Fund Drive. She served as president of Jr. Women's Club, Canton Women's Club, the Canton Symphony Orchestra, Sorosis, Arboretum and Congress Lake Garden Clubs, and Chapter A W of P.E.O. In 1977, she was honored as Woman of the year by the Junior League of Canton. As a world traveler many mementos of her trips were found in her home. She is survived by her only child, Sandra Frerichs Kramer of Canton, two nieces, Karen Ruth Fetterman of Cincinnati, OH, Gail Ruth Becker of Osprey, Fl. and Cousins Dr. Mary Anne Frable of Richmond Va. And Rosemary Reiter, of Monclovia, OH. A memorial service will be held in Trinity Lutheran Church Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Darlene E. Grega officiating. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church 415 Tuscarawas St. W. Canton, Ohio 44702.
