Betty C. DeHoff, nee Hossler Of Canton passed away June 9, 2012, one day after her 66th wedding anniversary, at the age of 88. Betty was born to William McKinley and Gertrude Gardner Hossler on January 10, 1924. She graduated from Timken Senior Vocational HS and was a member of the Timken Alumni Association. She married her husband, Judge Harold E. DeHoff, on June 8, 1946 in Covington, KY. They attend Saint Paul United Methodist Church and sold peanuts and water at the Stark County Fair for the church for many years. Betty was a member of the Canton Women's Club and previously a member of the Stark County Republican Central Committee. She was very active in Canton's political scene as a volunteer for the Republican party and was recognized for her long service as a poll worker by the Ohio Secretary of State. During WWII, she served her country working for the Timken Company in labor relations. When the men returned after the war, she worked as a secretary for Hall, Kistler and Company. She was an avid reader, volunteered at the Stark County Library, and was a member of Friends of the Library. She is remembered by family and friends for her wonderful laugh and gentle ways. Preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Dale Gardner and Evelyn Oeffinger Hossler, Betty is survived by her husband; her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Gaye and Mark J. Skakun of Canton; three grandsons, John Skakun of Chicago, IL, Jeffrey Skakun and James Skakun both of Canton; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Hossler; nephews and nieces, JoAnn and Robert Brewster, Dale and Sara Hossler, Michael and Amy Hossler, John Hossler all of Canton, Rachelle and Ken Martin of New Bern, NC, and Rebecca and Mark Canoyer of Fairfax, VA; three grand nephews, three grand nieces, and three great grand niece and nephews; and her beloved dog Samantha (Sam). Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church 2705 6th St. SW with Rev. Linda K. Hall officiating. Entombment will be in North Lawn Mausoleum. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW and one hour prior to the service in church on Friday.
