Betty Cochran, age 83, of Canton passed away Friday September 15, 2006 at Aultman Hospital. Born in Cleveland, Ohio July 20, 1923 to the late John and Frances (Bond) Gilmore, Betty was a McKinley High School graduate and attended University of Michigan and Kent State. She worked at the Hoover Co. during WW II for the US Navy as an Inspector and worked for Republic Steel, Dual Parking Meter Co. Continuing her mother's passion for flower gardening, Betty had a deep interest in cultivating roses and was a member of Stark Rose Society and National Rose Society. An amateur photographer, her favorite pictures of flowers and nature will be enjoyed by family for years to come. Survived by her husband, Omar N. Cochran; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Revonda Cochran of Canton, Bruce and Betsy Cochran of Youngstown, NY; grandchildren Shannon, Krista and Kelly Cochran, Matthew and Michael Cochran. Preceded in death by first husband, Harry Knox. Betty's wish for no pomp or ceremony will be honored with a very simple family moment of burial this week in North Lawn Cemetery.
