Betty J. Abel, age 84, of Canton went home to be with the Lord on December 24, 2024. She was born in Barnsville, Ohio as one of 9 children on January 28, 1940, to Charles and Florence (Beard) Bailey. Betty married the love of her life Virgil J. Abel Jr. on November 22, 1958, and together they raised their 4 boys while being married over 57 years. Betty loved to be in the kitchen baking, she also enjoyed writing poetry and her own songs. She had a strong faith and love for the Lord and was active in First Friend Church for decades.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil in 2016 and 5 siblings. She is survived by her children Virgil (Deborah) Abel III, Vincent (Michele) Abel, Mark (Rosa) Abel, and Michael (Kim) Abel; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; siblings Frances Cumbridge, Martha Brown, and James Bailey.

Calling hours will be Friday, December 27, 2024, from 4-6 PM at the Arnold Funeral Home at 1517 Market Ave N. Funeral services will be Saturday December 28, 2024, in the funeral home. Final resting place is North Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care.
