Obituary

Bernice "Bea" M. Cannon, a long time resident of North Canton, Ohio and formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died peacefully on February 13, 2017 at the age of 102. The family believes it was just in time to spend Valentine's Day with her husband, Frank T. Cannon, who preceded her in death. Born October 8, 1914, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sadie (Patton) Twerenbold. She was the oldest of four girls and was preceded in death by her three sisters, Lucille, Evelyn and Annamae. She married the love of her life, Frank T. Cannon, on Thanksgiving Day in 1935. Bea loved life and it was apparent in how she lived hers. She was an avid golfer and bowler into her late 80s, played a mean game of gin rummy and poker and could be seen until the last few years at Congress Lake Club socializing with many that were privileged to call her their friend. Bea leaves behind many loved ones including her four children, Frank (Diane) Cannon, Diane (Donald) Sutkus, Joseph (Cathy) Cannon, and Deborah (Gary) Slade. She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren, Cindy (Larry) Stapleton, Lisa (Dan) Broomall, Frank (Lindsay) Cannon, Tracey (Dave) Moody, Meagan Cannon, Janel Sutkus, Colleen Sutkus, William (Sarah) Cannon, Christine (Scott) Richards, Erin (Brian) Caldwell, Nicole (Jeff) Baldwin, and Katie (Paul) Fisher; and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for her over the last several years; we deeply appreciate all of your kindness and support. A special thank you to the staff at Canton Christian Home for all of the kindness, support and love you showed to Bea in her final years. Mass of Christian burial will be 12 noon on Friday in St. Paul's Catholic Church, North Canton, with Fr. Daniel Finnerty as celebrant. Procession will form at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave. N.W. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Canton Christian Home 2550 Cleveland Ave. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44709. Please sign the guest book.
